Who is “The Great Teacher”
Articles of Master of Education Management Lecturers (S2 MP UAD) have returned to Scopus Q2. The paper entitled “The Great Teacher: The Indonesian Adolescent Student Voice” was published in the January 2022 issue of the journal Frontiers in Education.
The Great Teacher: This is criticism as well as a recommendation for the consensus on the concept of teacher professionalism in Indonesia which tends to be externally oriented (especially the government) and forgets about being user-oriented (students). Consensus like this is dangerous because it shallows the meaning of professionalism itself.” explained Dr. Suyatno, M.Pd.I. as the first author of the article
External parties, especially the government, determine many professional teachers. This shows that professionalism is considered an important indicator of good performance in education. And that’s important, right? Since the first, the teacher-student relationship and vice versa have been an essential core in the educational process; besides, other factors are also important. What’s interesting, there is a side that is often forgotten, namely the student’s point of view who assesses and considers professionalism from his point of view,” said Zalik Nuyana as one of the authors of the article.
As explained by Andi Prastowo, another writer from UIN Sunan Kalijaga, it turns out that the figure of a great teacher from a student’s perspective is DIFFERENT from the views of education policymakers in this country.
This research was written in collaboration with domestic and foreign universities, with the authors being Suyatno (S2 MP UAD), Wantini (S2 MPAI UAD), Andi Prastowo (UIN Sunan Kalijaga), Zalik Nuryana (Nanjing Normal University China), Dzihal Khilmi Ayu Firdausi (Muhammadiyah University). Bangka Belitung) and Abdunrorma Samaalee (Fatoni University, Thailand)
This study uses a student perspective in developing the concept of a professional teacher. What does “the great teacher” look like according to the students? And what is the impact on the consensus of teacher professionalism in Indonesia?
